The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame announced the 2017 nominees a few weeks ago, which included Pearl Jam, Tupac Shakur, Depeche Mode, Electric Light Orchestra, Jane’s Addiction, Janet Jackson, Journey, the Cars, the Zombies and Yes among others.
What we find more interesting is the list of artists or singers that were not even on the list of nominees, artists or singers that the hall didn’t even consider for enshrinement. That list includes Journey, The Cars, The Doobie Brothers, Bad Company, Bon Jovi, Roxy Music, The Moody Blues, the Cure, The Guess Who, Def Leppard, Jethro Tull, Dire Straits, Soundgarden, and Motorhead.
There are many deserving singers, songwriters and performers that could easily make their case. Frankly how do you keep The Cars, Doobie Brothers, Bad Company or the Moody Blues from induction into the hall?
Each band has sold over 75 million albums contributing countless songs to your favorite radio stations staple of tunes? We’ll be curious who will be considered for the 2018 class, but in the meantime we will simply have to hope for our favorites to be so honored.
