Chuck Berry celebrated his 90th birthday last week; frankly most people didn’t know that he was still alive! Making even bigger news, Chuck has announced that he will be releasing his first album in 40 years due out in early 2017.
Entitled ‘Chuck,’ the LP will be made up primarily of new songs with a few songs from his massive archives. Two of his children, Charles Jr. and Ingrid, are scheduled to add their musical talents to the project.
Born Charles Edward Anderson Berry in October of 1926, Chuck Berry has sold millions of records, toured for over 50 years, and was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1986. He’s ranked number five in the 2004 Rolling Stones’ ‘100 Greatest Artists of All Time,’ and three of his songs appear in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame’s Top 500 Songs of all time. John Lennon once said that if you gave rock and roll another name, it would be Chuck Berry.
