MLB’s Tight Playoff Races

It’s September and while that means football is back, it also means that baseball is seriously heating up. Just ask fans of the Blue Jays, Orioles, Tigers, Giants, Mets and Cardinals how they feel about this month’s baseball. All of these teams and a few more and making their last push towards the playoffs!

In the American League we’re seeing the toughest race for the two wild card spots with the Blue Jays and Orioles currently leading the way. If the season ended today they would be in the playoffs and teams like the Tigers and Yankees would be on the outside looking in. Those two teams are currently 2-3 games out of the playoffs and will need a hot month to be on the right side looking in.

In the National League the race is a little looser. The Giants are in the driver’s seat with a multiple game lead over the Cardinals who are the first team not lucky enough to make the playoffs. The Mets are fighting them off and are a blink of an eye away from being on the wrong side of the standings.

Who will make it into the playoffs this season and will they be able to make a run at the World Series? It wouldn’t be unusual to see a wild card team make a push for the World Series.
