A Look at Baseball’s Wild Card Battle

This year’s wild cards are hot and heavy with many teams still with a chance to make the playoffs. As the summer winds down, the MLB is just getting heated up. Can you imagine knowing you have to be better than every other team over the last 30 games or so? What a tough and pressure filled situation that would be!

As of Monday morning, there were four teams competing with the Boston Red Sox and Baltimore Orioles for the final two wild card races in the American League. These teams are the Detroit Tigers, Houston Astros, Kansas City Royals and New York Yankees.

The National League wild card race features the San Francisco Giants and St. Louis Cardinals fighting off three teams all within 2.5 games or less. Those three teams include the Pittsburgh Pirates, Miami Marlins and New York Mets.

The wild card races are getting tight and there’s no better baseball than late August and early September baseball!
