Phil Collins is one of the most successful solo artists of all time, and he’d be the first to tell you that he has an average voice, petty good with the sticks, and does a decent job wiring songs. Not bad for a legendary artist right?
Phil broke into the music business as the drummer of the progressive rock band Genesis in the late 70s and early 80s, replacing Peter Gabriel who left the lead microphone to start his solo career. Although Phil has been semi-retired for a few years, battling health issues, he’s back at the opening ceremony of the U.S. Open in Flushing, NY.
Inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2010 as a member of Genesis, Phil Collins has earned Grammy, Billboard, and Oscar awards, and will belt out his classic song ‘In the Air Tonight,’ (the first song from his latest album ‘The Singles.’ The long awaited LP will be available in October, along with the release of his autobiography, Not Dead Yet.”
