Earlier in the week we wrote about Sir Elton John, an artist that has sold over 200 million albums, had earned every conceivable award given, and is considered by many to be a survivor.
Who is this man? Reginald Kenneth Dwight was born in the UK in 1949, a child of a broken home. His grandparents did most of the leg work in raising Elton an only child. Believe it or not, Elton learned to play the piano at the age of three, and by the time he was a teenager he had joined forces with struggling song writer Bernie Taupin and traveled to Los Angeles to become a rising star in the late 60s folk rock explosion.
Elton was knighted by the royalty of England in 1998, has earned six Grammy awards over his incredible career, and was inducted onto the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1994.
Elton is worth an estimated $300 million, has two adopted children with residences in Atlanta, the UK and Los Angeles, and is currently out on tour in Denmark and other European cities.
