At Sunday night’s Teen Choice Awards, Justin Timberlake took home the Decade Award. It was the first time ever given out and quite honestly we’re not sure a better man or woman could have won it. What he followed up the win with was an amazing speech.
Kobe Bryant announced the award and was later brought up in Timberlake’s speech when he talked about what it took to be a champion. Arriving early and staying late is what Timberlake said. He would also talk about Muhammad Ali and what it took for him to become a champion. He talked about how he not only fought as a boxer, but also as someone looking for peace in the world.
Our favorite part is when Timberlake quoted Ali’s famous impossible quote. He said, “Impossible is just a word thrown around by small men who find it easier to live in the world they’ve been given than to explore the power they have to change it. Impossible is not a fact. It’s an opinion. Impossible is potential. Impossible is temporary. Impossible is nothing.”
What an empowering speech from the first Decade Award winner!
