Bob Seger’s Battle to the Top

You might think that at the age of 13 when your dad leaves home, your family penniless and near ruin, that life would be short and painful. You would be right if your name wasn’t Robert Clark Seger. Bob and family weathered the storm so early in his life, with Bob realizing at the age of 16 what his purpose in life was; Bob was born to rock! Bob wandered in a few garage bands until the ‘Herd,’ the ‘System’ (Bob as front man) generated regional success and albums sales with the singles “2+2 is On My Mind,” and “Ramblin’ Gamblin’ Man.”

Bob left his band in 1971 to go it alone, struggling until he began touring with Teegarden & Van Winkle and released Smokin’ O.P.’s, and the single “Heavy Music.” Imagine the breadth of his career, from ‘Heavy Music” to the million selling albums ‘Against the Wind, Night Moves, and his greatest accomplishment, Live Bullet from 1976.

Bob’s music has been featured in Beverley Hill Cop II, and his songwriting talents led him to co-write the Eagles smash hit “Heartache Tonight.” Bob was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2004, and the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 2012. He was also named Billboard’s 2015 Legend of Live honoree at the 12th annual Billboard Touring Conference & Awards in the Fall of 2015.

Bob lives in both Michigan and Naples, Florida and is the father of two children.
