Kenny Rogers recently retired after nearly performing for 50 years, and what you many fans did not know that Kenny’s roots and early success was that of a rock singer. His claim to fame was being the lead singer of the 60’s psychedelic band “The First Edition” and voice of song ‘Just Checked in to See What Condition My Condition Was In.” Kenny began performing ballads, and had his biggest success after the drug scene as a Country Singer.
LeAnn Rimes, Dolly Parton, Faith Hill and Olivia Newton John all started making country hits long before hitting the pop charts.
Carrie Underwood was the 2004 American Idol winner and very Country back then, taking her Oklahoma roots with her all the way to her induction to the Grand Ole Opry Hall of Fame. It was Idol that moved her to pop, celebrating her success with “Blown Away” a sing that solidified her chart prowess. Carrie has just as many Pop, Billboard, American Music, and People’s Choice awards as she does Country awards.
