It was 26 years ago that Mariah Carey released her self-titled debut album that would rock the country. June 12, 1990 is a day that all of her fans will remember because of this album release and the kind of impact it had on us all. In total, the album has hit 20 million sold worldwide.
Mariah’s debut album would come with five singles, four of which went on to be number one hits on the Hot 100 chart. These singles included “Vision of Love,” “Love Takes Time,” “Someday,” “I Don’t Wanna Cry,” and “There’s Got to Be a Way.”
“Vision of Love” took home the Grammy for Best Female Pop Vocal Performance and was nominated for two others. It would also win an award at the BMI Pop Awards. Lastly, it won Best R&B/Soul Single at the Soul Train Music Awards.
What an album it was and boy do we feel old now that the album is 26 years old!
