Kirk Franklin Sweeps Gospel Music Awards at BBMAs

The 2016 Billboard Music Awards have come and gone and we see one artist who has a whole lot of hardware to carry around now. We’re talking about Kirk Franklin and his domination at the BBMAs. He was nominated for three awards and won all three of them. Those nominations all came in gospel categories, but we know he’s very excited about the results. Let’s take a look the specifics…

For Top Gospel Artist, Kirk beat out four other great musicians. Those other nominees included Anthony Brown & group therAPy, Tash Cobbs, Marvin Sapp, and Travis Greene.

Kirk Franklin’s recent album, “Losing My Religion,” was the recipient of the Top Gospel Album. It beat out recent albums from Jonathan McReyonds, Anthony Brown & group therAPy, Tasha Cobbs, and Marvin Sapp.

Finally, Franklin’s “Wanna Be Happy?” was a chart topper for what felt like forever recently and not surprisingly it won Top Gospel Song. It beat out hits from Travis Greene, Erica Campbell, Anthony Brown & group therAPy, and Brian Courtney Wilson.
