Amazon has announced it will be launching something called ‘Amazon Video Direct’ and we think it could be a sort of rival to YouTube and the videos shown there. The service should be similar in ways to YouTube, but one place it differs is who it’s aimed towards. It sounds like the details are geared towards the more professional video creators while YouTube isn’t necessarily.
Amazon Video Direct will be ad-supported and will be showing videos the user creates next to studio-created movies and shows. To see the videos, you must be an Amazon customer. Details like creating a new specific Amazon account filled with information on your company and other tax details make us feel like it’s geared to the more serious video creators.
To be a part of Amazon Video Direct, you must live in the United States, United Kingdom, Japan, Austria, or Germany.
