Remembering Prince’s Best Music Performed by Others

Every music genre so this year has lost a founding father. David Bowie, Glenn Frey, Lemmy, Natalie Cole, Paul Kantner, Earth Wind & Fire’s Maurice White and more have passed away already in 2016.

Now Price has died and we can’t wait to get to December 31st and on to a new year. Prince sold over 100 million records, earning countless awards along the way. It was however his songwriting talents that made him so unique.

Here are the best songs writen by Prince and performed by others…

Sinead O’Connor took the song “Nothing Compares (2 U)” making it the biggest hit of her wild career. Prince had recorded it earlier, but after the death of Sinead’s mother in the same year, she grabbed the song and dedicated it to her mum.

Yes, “Manic Monday” was written by Prince in 1986. It’s hard to believe where the Bangles, an all-girl group from Los Angeles, would be without this bestselling single.

“Kiss” was a fairly big song from, of all people, 67 year old Tom Jones. Tom had been struggling for a few years; the two met back stage one night, giving Prince a chance to tell Tom what a big fan he had been. Tom thanked him and reportedly said “Hey, if you find a song for me, let me know.” Sure enough, a week later, a package arrived on Tom’s tour with the cassette and lyrics of the song.
