We all know the words to the classic “Take Me Out to the Ballgame” written by unknown Jack Norworth in the late 1800s, but since it’s the start of the baseball season, we thought we’d share a few of our favorite baseball songs from our generation.
“Centerfield” by John Fogerty released in 1985 was a great baseball song that the Baseball Hall of Fame honored in 2010 on its 25th anniversary. John was a solo act by then (formerly of Creedence Clearwater Revival) and it drove millions of sales from the album of the same name.
“Talking Baseball” Terry Cashman was a rather unique song in that the song specifically mentions the Yankee great of yesteryear; practically every MLB team had its custom version to increase sales.
Although a rich Country group, Alabama gave us the song “Cheap Seats,” a tune about minor league baseball in the little southern cities in the early 1900s.
“Glory Days” by Bruce Springsteen was a song about remembering just how good you were, and that if given the chance we could all be great again. The song came from the colossal ‘Born in the U.S.A.’ album in 1984 and can still be heard today between innings.
