What’s In a Name?

So what’s in a name? Well often times the band we love was not really the band that began under the name we love them for. You know Richard Steven Valenzuela had his name changed to Richie Valens by his agent right? And Eddie Money was born Eddie Mahoney, or Chicago began as Chicago Transit Authority.

If I offered you front row tickets to see the Elgins in concert, you probably wouldn’t come with me. But if I dragged you to the show you would quickly realize you had the best seats in the house to see Motown’s very own Temptations.

That’s show business. Here are other crazy original names of great bands moments before they hit it big.

Tom and Jerry (Simon and Garfunkel)
Mookie Blaylock (Pearl Jam)
Smile (Queen)
The Pendleton’s (The Beach Boys)
Sweet Children (Green Day)
Wicked Lester (KISS)
The Salty Peppers (Earth Wind and Fire)
The Pulka Tulk Blues Band (Black Sabbath)
Naked Toddler (Creed)
The Quarrymen (The Beatles)
