Vanity Passes Away

Prince discovered her in the early 80s, making her a star at the height of the dance club rage in the early 80s. News out of Freemont, California this morning reveals that her star has fallen.

Denise Matthews spent the last few months of her life trying to raise funds online to pay for the disease that had attacked her kidneys, but she fell short in money and long days, succumbing to her illness.

Vanity’s biggest hit was a song called “Nasty Girl” that reached the exciting number one on the Billboard charts in 1982. In the darker days post career Vanity claimed Jesus Christ came to her, offering her second chance if she would agree to drop the Vanity stick. Vanity did just that, but years of cocaine addiction and days on the road were simply too much.
