The NBA All-Star game has come and gone, but there is still plenty of meaningful basketball to be played. There are tight battles all over the Eastern Conference (we’ll get to the Western Conference tomorrow), so let’s get right into them.
The Eastern Conference has two teams at the very top (Cavs and Raptors) then a jumble of seven teams fighting for the last six spots. There’s only a 4.5 game difference between the Celtics at the third spot and the Pistons in the ninth position. The Hornets and Celtics have been red hot as of late, pushing them to the position they’re in today. On the other hand, the Bulls and Pistons were seeded higher 10 games ago, now after 3-7 and 4-6 records over their last 10, they’re falling deep down the standings.
Here’s a quick look at the standings (number signifies how far back they are of first place).
Eastern Conference
1. Cleveland Cavaliers – 0
2. Toronto Raptors – 3
3. Boston Celtics – 7.5
4. Atlanta Hawks – 8.5
5. Miami Heat – 9.5
6. Indiana Pacers – 10.5
7. Chicago Bulls – 11
8. Charlotte Hornets – 11.5
9. Detroit Pistons – 12
