Lionel Richie was hospitalized in St. Louis after a weekend concert, marking the second reported health scare for the music legend in recent months.
The 77-year-old singer sought medical attention following his Saturday night performance at The Muny in Forest Park. Reports indicated that Richie was admitted to an intensive care unit for testing, with possible mild dehydration among the conditions doctors were investigating.
The hospitalization was described as precautionary, and a source close to Richie’s tour indicated that the singer was doing OK. He was reportedly hoping to be discharged from the hospital on Tuesday.
There were signs during Saturday’s concert that Richie may not have been feeling his best. Near the end of the performance, he asked his team to bring him a chair and completed his final song, “All Night Long,” while seated.
The incident comes just over two months after another health issue interrupted one of Richie’s performances. During a June concert in St. Paul, Minnesota, Richie became ill and ended the show early. He was taken to a hospital and subsequently postponed tour dates before returning to the stage.
Richie has continued performing as part of a busy 2026 schedule, including dates connected to his tour with Earth, Wind & Fire.
As of the latest reports, no official diagnosis from Richie’s medical team had been made public, and there had been no announcement that his upcoming performances would be canceled.
For now, the focus remains on Richie’s recovery as one of pop and R&B’s most enduring performers undergoes medical evaluation following another demanding night onstage.
