Miley Cyrus appears ready to make one of the biggest names in pop music a little shorter.
The Grammy-winning singer is increasingly presenting herself simply as “Miley,” dropping the familiar Cyrus surname from prominent parts of her public branding as signs of a new musical era begin to emerge.
The change surfaced alongside a striking red-and-black visual campaign. Miley updated her social media presence and shared new imagery carrying the single-word identity “MILEY,” giving fans a pretty clear signal that something new is taking shape.
Her official website has received similar treatment, replacing the familiar Miley Cyrus presentation with branding centered on her first name.
For now, however, there is an important distinction. There has been no confirmation that the singer has legally changed her name or permanently abandoned Cyrus. The shift appears to be a professional rebranding tied to her next phase as a recording artist.
And the timing certainly makes sense.
Miley recently moved to Atlantic Records after a run with Columbia Records that included 2023’s “Endless Summer Vacation” and 2025’s “Something Beautiful.” The former delivered “Flowers,” one of the defining hits of her career and the song that helped bring her first Grammy victories.
Now another reinvention appears to be underway.
Changing identities between musical chapters is hardly unfamiliar territory for Miley. Her career has stretched from Disney Channel stardom to provocative pop, rock influences and increasingly mature songwriting, with each period carrying its own distinctive visual and musical personality.
Going by one name would be a particularly fitting move for an artist who has reached the level of recognition where a surname is hardly necessary.
The bigger question is what comes with it.
The new imagery and branding have fueled anticipation for Miley’s next musical project, but key details remain under wraps. Until an official announcement arrives, fans have a new look, a newly shortened name and plenty of reasons to watch closely.
For the moment, two decades after audiences first came to know Miley Cyrus, she seems interested in a much simpler introduction.
Just Miley.
