Rock icon Jon Bon Jovi stepped into a heroic role on Tuesday, September 10, when he helped save a distressed woman from the edge of the John Seigenthaler Pedestrian Bridge in Nashville. The 62-year-old singer, who was filming a music video nearby, spotted the woman on the bridge’s ledge and approached her with a companion.
Surveillance footage released by the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department shows Bon Jovi calmly talking to the woman for about a minute before gently helping her step down from the ledge overlooking the Cumberland River. After guiding her to safety, the singer embraced her and walked alongside her as they left the bridge. Police confirmed that she was taken for mental health treatment afterward.
Nashville police publicly thanked Bon Jovi on social media, writing, “Shout out to @jonbonjovi & his team for helping a woman on the Seigenthaler Ped Bridge.” Nashville Police Chief John Drake also commended the rock star, saying, “It takes all of us to help keep each other safe.”
This selfless act reflects Bon Jovi’s ongoing dedication to helping others through his JBJ Soul Foundation, which supports those facing homelessness and hunger. Fans took to social media to praise the rock legend, whose influence extends beyond his iconic hits like “Livin’ on a Prayer” and “You Give Love a Bad Name.”
