Rob Halford: No Plans for Retirement as Judas Priest “Still Delivers the Goods”

At 73, Judas Priest frontman Rob Halford has no intention of slowing down or stepping away from his legendary role as the “Metal God.” Despite their long career, the band continues to tour relentlessly and released their 19th studio album, Invincible Shield, this year.

Halford remains passionate about performing and insists that as long as the band looks, feels, and sounds great, there’s no reason to retire. “If you can still deliver the goods — to quote a Priest song — and everything is in place, why would you stop?” Halford said. “I wouldn’t know what to do with my life if I couldn’t do this. It’s part of who I am.”

A major driving force behind Judas Priest’s enduring success, according to Halford, is the unwavering support of their fans. “Our fans have kept this heavy metal machine rolling. We couldn’t do this without them,” he explained. “A live show completes the love of your band, and their dedication makes all the difference.”

Currently touring across North America with plans for shows in Japan later this year, Judas Priest continues to prove that, even after decades of rocking stages worldwide, they’re not ready to hang up their guitars just yet.
