Cardi B Teases Sophomore Album with Fans: Release Date Still a Mystery

Cardi B has been fueling anticipation for her long-awaited sophomore album for over a year. Following the sixth anniversary of her 2018 debut, Invasion of Privacy, the “Bongos” rapper hinted in April that her upcoming album would be “so different from what everyone is expecting.” Despite the excitement, she has remained tight-lipped about when the as-yet-untitled album will drop.

However, over the weekend, Cardi finally gave fans a glimpse of progress. Responding to a fan on X who speculated that the album cover was ready, Cardi confirmed, “Album covers are taken…I just don’t know which to pick [freaked out emoji].” She further teased fans when another follower joked about heading to France to find the Hermes bag she was searching for. Cardi playfully responded, “If you find the bag, I’ll release my album cover.”

The rapper, who is currently pregnant with her third child with estranged husband Offset, also shared details about a recent “freak accident” that sent her to the hospital. While she didn’t provide specifics, she revealed that the incident left her temporarily paralyzed but assured fans that both she and her baby are fine.

In July, Cardi reignited hope that the album might drop this year, stating, “I promise you it’s coming THIS YEAR. Thank you for the love and anticipation and always holding me down. I love y’all.” This update came just before her feature on New Orleans MC Rob49’s track “On Dat Money.”

As fans eagerly await more details, Cardi B’s sophomore album remains one of the most anticipated releases of the year.
