Sandra Bullock recently shared touching words of encouragement with Hoda Kotb as she celebrated her 60th birthday on August 9. During the Monday, August 12, episode of Today with Hoda and Jenna, Bullock delivered a heartfelt video message that left Kotb visibly emotional.
“I had so many brilliant and funny things prepared for this message, but honestly, I’m just too tired,” joked Bullock, who also turned 60 on July 26. “I had to climb that mountain before you to check out the terrain, and I found out it’s pretty damn great.”
Bullock went on to express her admiration for Kotb, praising her for the kindness and resilience she displays in her daily life. “What you do, how you shape-shift every day, how you navigate kindness even when it’s not reciprocated—you’re incredible,” Bullock said. “We’re all so lucky to have you, especially your kids.”
Bullock concluded her message with a personal note, inviting Kotb to join her in this new chapter of life. “Happy birthday, my sweet friend. Thank you for allowing me to be in your circle. The view up here is beautiful, but I need you with me.”
After the message, Kotb, who adopted her daughters Haley, 7, and Hope, 4, shared how Bullock had inspired her own journey into motherhood. “Sandra was the reason I became a mom,” Kotb recalled. “When I was looking for inspiration, I called her, and she told me, ‘It’s the best decision I ever made.'”
Bullock, who turned 60 in July, has been navigating her own challenges after the loss of her partner, Bryan Randall, last year. Despite the hardships, Bullock’s close friends, including Jennifer Aniston, have supported her, helping her find joy in motherhood and life once again.
