Bob Dylan Surprises Fans with Revamped Setlist at Outlaw Fest

Bob Dylan shook things up at the Outlaw Fest with a completely revamped setlist for his first two performances of the summer. Known for sticking to a familiar lineup from his recent tours, featuring songs from his 2020 album Rough and Rowdy Ways and older classics, Dylan took a different route this time. He delighted fans with deep cuts from his extensive catalog and choice covers from artists who have inspired him over the years.

On Friday night, Dylan kicked off the show with a cover of Willie Dixon’s blues classic, “My Babe.” The surprises continued with renditions of Chuck Berry’s “Little Queenie,” the Fleetwoods’ “Mr. Blue,” Hank Williams’ “Cold, Cold Heart,” and Sanford Clark’s “The Fool.” Each song was a nod to the varied influences that have shaped Dylan’s legendary career.

Saturday’s setlist brought even more unexpected choices, with Dylan covering the Grateful Dead’s “Stella Blue” and Paul Davis’ truck-driving country classic, “Six Days on the Road.” Longtime fans were particularly thrilled to see the 83-year-old music legend playing the harmonica extensively during these shows, adding a nostalgic touch to the performances.

Dylan’s daring departure from his usual setlist has been met with enthusiasm, showcasing his ability to keep his performances fresh and engaging, even after decades in the music industry.
