What Looks will be coming to your Local Retailer from the Spring 2024 Runways

Editors, influencers, stylists and show-goers can share what they loved most from a season’s runways, but, in the end, what matters is what people buy from the new collections. To get an accurate sense for what’s going to trend in six months, you have to ask the buyers, merchandisers and fashion directors at major retailers about what’s catching their eye, what they placed orders for and what they’re betting on.

The savvy editors at Fashionista asked what looks will be coming to local retailers, and it appears that luxury womenswear buyers especially loved the Spring 2024 collections of PradaThe Row and Dries van Noten, and really responded to sportswear and spring dresses on the runway.

Black and white minimalism, and a lot of tan earthy tones dominated the color palette, as did sheer layered fabrics, but when designers did decide to go with color or a print, it was a bold red and over the top layers of springy patterns, florals and textured fringe.

As far as shapes go, for Spring the buyers loved all the strapless, tailored and flowy dresses. In contrast, they also went crazy for the oversized tops from hoodies to blazers, wide legged trousers, layered looks, and Dries van Noten in particular redefined suits tailored for women.
