Taylor Swift Extends Record at 2022 American Music Awards

Taylor Swift won all six awards that she was nominated for including artist of the year at this year’s 2022 American Music Awards on Sunday Night. Three of her wins were from her re-recorded Red, including a 10 minute short film music video of “All Too Well,” that starred Said Sink and Dylan O’Brien.

During her favorite pop album acceptance speech, Swift stated that she “never expected or assumed” that her re-recorded albums would have much meaning to fans. She thanked those who joined her for the re-recorded version of her 2012 album. She also returned later to accept the award for best music video and thanked the fans for their support of the track. She went on to say that they allowed her to release the 10 minute version and make her short film.

For Swift’s final win of the night, she talked about how the support she got from her fans allowed her to release more music in the past few years than “in the entire decade preceding that.” She stated, “You, the fans, made it clear that you wanted to hear lots of music that I would make. You encouraged me. So I found the more music I made and the more music I put out, the happier I was, I have the fans to thank essentially for my happiness, and I love you more than I can say.”

Presenters at the 2022 American Music Awards included Dan + Shay, Dustin Lynch, Ellie Goulding, Jessie James Decker, Karrueche Tran, Liza Koshy, Latto, Meghan Trainor, Niecy Nash-Betts, Roselyn Sanchez, Sabrina Carpenter and Sheryl Lee Ralph. The awards aired at 8 p.m. on ABC live from Los Angeles’ Microsoft Theater.
