2Pac’s Teenage Home is Up For Sale

On November 17th, the building that is located on what is known as Tupac Shakur Way, has been listed for sale at $179 thousand. He moved to the first floor apartment in 1984 at 13 years old with his mother, stepfather and half sister, where he later became friends with Jada Pinkett Smith after they both went to Baltimore School for the Arts together.

Anyone looking to make an offer on the property can do so through Redfin. The news comes after 2Pac’s stepfather was granted compassionate release from prison due to his declining health. Mutulu Shakur was diagnosed with bone marrow cancer, and is expected to only have six months to live. In total he spent 36 years in prison and was denied release 10 times until this most recent hearing in October. The Federal parole commission stated he had an impeccable record and was no longer considered a risk to society.

He was originally convicted of racketeering charges in 1981 for the robbery of a Brink’s armored truck, two police officers and a guard were killed in the incident. He was also convicted of attempting to help 2Pac’s godmother escape from prison.

One of Shakur’s attorneys stated that, “We are relieved that the Parole Commission now recognizes what has long been true — that Dr. Shakur’s release poses no risk whatsoever, It is tragic that it took until he was on the verge of death for that truth to finally be realized. Mutulu will now be able to live out his final days, surrounded by the love and care of his family and close friends.”
