The Philadelphia Phillies won against the Houston Astros in Game 3 of the World Series on Tuesday, November first, and Tim McGraw attended to cheer on his dad’s former team. McGraw’s father Tug McGraw was a celebrated MLB pitcher who helped the Phillies win the 1980 World Series, ending the team’s 77 year drought. On Tuesday night, McGraw was on camera representing his father and cheering on the Phillies as they took game three of the series.
In a video McGraw appears on the Jumbotron with his daughter, Gracie, as his song “I Like It, I Love It” plays over the stadium’s speakers and turns around to reveal he is wearing his dad’s jersey, which made the crowd go wild.
Just last week, McGraw shared a video of the moment his father struck out the last batter in the 1980 series, allowing them to take home the win against the Kansas City Royals, captioning the video, “Let’s go Phillies!” Tug McGraw started his career with the New York Mets and coined the team catchphrase “Ya Gotta Believe!” He ended up being traded to the Phillies in 1974. Tug passed away due to a brain tumor in 2004.
