Girls In Jacksonville Will Have a New Development Center Empowering Them

According to firstcoastnews.com, a local organization in Jacksonville, Florida called ‘Girls of Virtue’ that is aimed at helping young girls in the area reach their highest potential, is currently renovating their first development center in downtown Jacksonville. Their efforts can be best summarized by girls like Tarriuna Pickard, a program participant who is quoted in saying, “I was an 18-year-old drop out when I first encountered ‘Girls of Virtue’. They pushed me to strive and overcome my insecurities and now I’m a 2021 graduate,” Another participant in the program had this to say, “Safe space for women to be able to engage and give each other advice and to also help us grow and also become more self-motivated and have a more positive outlook on life.” The program partners with local high schools in order to implement classes for girls that focus on life skills, mental health, wellness, education, and more. The groups new development center will be the first physical space for the organization, with the group working out of schools up until now. The new space is expected to be ready sometime in September allowing the organization to expand on their goal of empowering young girls in the community.
