According to clickondetroit.com, in Pontiac, Michigan hundreds of young girls got an opportunity to experience a variety of sports through Project Play. The Project Play organizations goal is to give girls a chance to explore a variety of sports prior to reaching an age where many girls tend to drop out of sports entirely. The event took place on August 12th and had the girls experiencing sports they would have never dipped their toes into if it weren’t for Project Play. One example of the confidence these girls build is seen through Londyn Mason who said, “When I first started playing, I was so nervous, people were making fun of me, and one night, I blew up, and I didn’t focus on the haters,” Director of the Project Play program Alana Glass had this to say about the event, “I played basketball because a coach said to me one day, ‘would you like to try basketball’ and it was that invitation that got me playing sports.” Glass continued to say that Project Play is her way of paying it forward to the next generations of girls.
