The NFL Suspends The Dolphins Owner, and Dolphins Lose Draft Picks

According to cbssports.com, six months after coach Brian Flores accused the Dolphins team owner Stephen Ross of bribing him to lose games in 2019 when the team had a 5-11 record in order to get a better draft position. Due to this the NFL has temporarily stripped Ross and premium draft picks form the Miami team. Roger Goodell informed Miami on Tuesday that an Investigation hinted at the team going after draft picks rather then a winning record in 2019. As a result of these actions Ross has been fined $1.5 million dollars and suspended up until October 17th. On top of that the Dolphins must forfeit their 2023 first round pick and their 2024 third round pick for “violating the integrity of the game.” Ross has released a statement saying, “The independent investigation cleared our organization on any issues related to tanking and all of Brian Flores’ other allegations. As I have said all along, these allegations were false, malicious and defamatory, and this issue is now put to rest. With regards to tampering, I strongly disagree with the conclusions and the punishment. However, I will accept the outcome because the most important thing is that there be no distractions for our team as we begin an exciting and winning season. I will not allow anything to get in the way of that.” The dolphins also reportedly being investigated for attempting to get Brady and Payton on the team without receiving permission from their teams to do so.
