According to cinemablend.com, Tyler Perry recently opened up about a stigma surrounding his films, after recent releases have not sat well with critics. Due to this stigma, big names are turning down Tyler Perry’s latest Netflix film, A Jazzman’s Blues. According to a statement made by Perry, “Unfortunately with this film, I went to a bunch of up-and-coming young artists who were getting a lot of attention and I asked them about doing the role. They read the script, they loved the script, but I think there was a reservation or hesitation about working with me in particular on this film, because I guess they didn’t know how it would turn out. Too bad, so sad for them.” A Jazzman’s Blues is different from Perry’s past films, a 1940’s piece about a forbidden love between a black jazz singer and a Holocaust survivor. He had original visions of Will Smith, Halle Berry, Sir Ben Kingsley, Diana Ross, Cicely Tyson, and others being in the film, however, they have all aged out of the roles written with them in mind. After 26 years, A Jazzman’s Blues will be coming to Netflix soon
