According to sports.yahoo.com, the Pittsburgh Steelers have announced on Monday that their home stadium will no longer be referred to as Heinz Field. The Steelers were unable to reach a new deal with Heinz, a sauce and condiment company known for its iconic ketchup bottles. The new name will be Acrisure Stadium, Acrisure is an insurance company that is based in Michigan, unlike Heinz who is based only miles from the stadium. Heinz made a statement that they will continue to sponsor the team long term and simply couldn’t justify paying significantly more to keep the name of the stadium the same as it was. Team president Art Rooney II gave a little more detail in stating, “Acrisure provided us with an opportunity to ensure our stadium continues to be a valuable asset for our fans as well as keeping up with the market value of NFL stadiums.” Since Rooney seemed to have fans best interests in mind, you would think fans would be happy. However, that is not the case and fans across social media clearly dislike and even hate the name change. If fans like it or not, it seems the new name is staying as they were able to pay the most for the opportunity.
