Retta Stars In New Season of HGTV’s ‘Ugliest House In America’

We love beautiful homes, but sometimes we get even more excited about ugly homes, because, oh the possibilities. According to HGTV, comedian and actress Retta might feel the same. As the host of Ugliest House in America: Ugly in Paradisecoming back to HGTV for a second season on July 24 at 8/7c she’s on the hunt for the ugliest of the ugly in the prettiest locations.

“Retta is hitting the road once again — this time to highlight vacation destinations — as she searches for ugly houses in paradise,” says Betsy Ayala, Senior Vice President, Programming & Development, HGTV. “Retta brings so much levity to the series as she celebrates the ugly alongside the homeowners. Everyone loves a good laugh, and this show is full of them.”

During the new, five-episode season, Retta will take a road trip to five stunning destinations and visit 15 unsightly homes nominated by their owners. Each episode features three houses full of bad designs, ranging from linoleum-covered walls and carpeted bathrooms to epic odors and pest infestation. The best part? Retta’s hilarious reviews of the cringe-worthy layouts and severely outdated styles. HGTV will crown one house the “ugliest in America” — based on ugly appearance, poor functionality and hideous design choices.

Then the design fun will begin.

According to HGTV insider reports, Alison Victoria, host of the network’s Windy City Rehab, will step in and give the winning home a $150,000 renovation. “After having a blast on our inaugural trip visiting the worst of the worst in home design and making a friend in Alison, I was thrilled to hear that HGTV wanted to do it again,” says Retta. “Folks will get to see more ugly homes, be introduced to some unfamiliar vacation locations and watch a new renovation that even outdoes the last one.”

The new season premieres on HGTV on July 24 at 8/7c. For more about Ugliest House In America, visit HGTV.com or follow @HGTV and #UgliestHouse on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and TikTok. Follow Retta @unforettable on Instagram.
