According to ultimateclassicrock.com, a one of a kind recording that Bob Dylan made of his classic “Blowin’ in the Wind” has sold at an auction for $1,769,508. The recording is a rerecording of the classic song originally from 1963, that took place in March of 2021 while making use of a new technology. Bidding started at a few hundred thousand dollars, and ended only four minutes later with the final winning bidder not being disclosed to the public. The Track is an Ionic Original, which is a hybrid between CD and Vinyl formats of music, meant to offer the highest quality of audio possible to the listener. This version of the track makes use of a full band, including Burnett on guitar, Greg Leisz on mandolin and Don Was on bass. With only one physical copy of the song in existence, “listening experiences” have occured where fans can listen to the new recording in Los Angeles, New York, and London. Burnett was also quoted in saying that, “It’s something both Bob and I have done to the degree we could for our whole lives,” Burnett said in a statement to Variety. “But this is a chance now to do it not just for Bob, but for many other artists who are gonna do this with us, who’ve already signed up. With any luck, this is the way I’ll spend the rest of my working life, doing these beautiful one-of-one pieces of high art.”
