Summer Camp For Girls Self-Esteem

In Las Vegas, a local girls camp is attempting to improve the lives of young girls through building their self-esteem. The camp is hosted by a nonprofit, Rescue the Children, an organization with the goal of changing the world through one child at a time. The camp is four weeks long, free, and focuses on both educating and building up young girls ages nine to sixteen. The owner of the non-profit Lasandra Morrison is quoted in saying that, “As a 14-year-old girl, I needed this and so they did not have a lot of these programs when I was growing up and so I felt with this generation and the times changing and the things they are exposed to, this was needed,” That being said, Morrison’s goal for the camp is to boost the girls self-esteem and self-worth while educating them about real life scenarios they may encounter in their everyday life. Morrison has also invited the community to join and celebrate these girls at their completion ceremony on Saturday, July 2nd from noon until two p.m. at Walnut Recreation Center located at 3075 N. Walnut Road, Las Vegas, 89115.
