According to UltimateClassicRock.com, Bob Dylan’s collaborator T Bone Burnett recently spoke about a series of recorded songs that are going to be released on a “one-of-one” basis. The first of which, is a new version of the song “Blowin’ in the Wind,” that will be auctioned off on July 7th and is predicted to sell for between $700,000 and $1,200,000 dollars. It is going to be sold under the brand name Ionic Originals, that supposedly uses the best parts of both CD and Vinyl to create a better reproduction of the performance. When speaking to Variety magazine Burnett is quoted in saying that, “There are two things I think it is important to know for people who are concerned about the exclusivity of what we are doing,” “An Ionic Original is not a ‘copy.’ It is an original recording. We are not contriving scarcity. This is actually scarce. It is a unique, handmade, original recording. We have all been conditioned to accept the terms of and react to things from the frame of mass production. This is not that.” Burnett also said that him and Dylan had discussed this idea of “one-of-one” a few years ago in a response to the way that music has been commoditized in todays culture.
