Selena Gomez has just launched her very own multimedia company called Wondermind, a free mental wellness resource.
Gomez, who has spoken candidly about living with bipolar disorder since her diagnosis in 2020, partnered with her mom Mandy Teefey and mental health activist Daniella Pierson to create the platform.
“I haven’t been on the internet in four and a half years,” Gomez said in a recent interview. “It has changed my life completely. I am happier. I am more present, I connect more with people. It makes me feel normal.”
“I can’t believe that I am where I am mentally just because of how I took the necessary steps in order to kind of remove myself from that because it’s just not normal,” she continued about the negative effects social media has on its users.
Over the years, Gomez has faced a lot of public scrutiny in addition to a number of difficult life challenges, including her public breakup with Justin Bieber, undergoing a kidney transplant, and living with her lupus diagnosis. But, the actress-singer-activist has realized that, through it all, she found her purpose.
“‘You’re going to help people,'” Gomez told herself. “That’s really what kept me going.”
