Mila Kunis, along with her husband Ashton Kutcher, has raised over $30 million for Ukrainian refugees fleeing the country amid the ongoing Russian invasion.
“Ukrainians are proud and brave people who deserve our help in their time of need,” the Ukraine-born actress wrote on their GoFundMe page, vowing to match all donations to the fundraiser up to $3 million. “This unjust attack on Ukraine and humanity at large is devastating and the Ukrainian people need our support.”
Kunis and Kutcher started the fundraiser earlier in the month and have now received a large number of contributions.
“Over 65,000 of you donated,” said Kunis in a video posted on Kutcher’s Instagram. “We are overwhelmed with gratitude for the support.”
The $30 million will be going to two organizations. The first is the freight transportation company, Flexport, which organizes shipments of relief supplies to refugee sites in Poland, Romania, Hungary, Slovakia, and Moldova. The second organization is Airbnb, which is providing free, short-term housing to Ukrainian refugees.
“While this is far from a solution for the problem,” Kunis explained, “our collective effort will provide a softer landing for so many people as they forge ahead into their future of uncertainty.”
