Trisha Yearwood Surprises Lauren Alaina with Invitation to Join the Opry

Over the weekend, Lauren Alaina was surprised by an invitation to join the Grand Ole Opry as the legendary country music venue’s newest member.

Alaina, who received the invitation from Trisha Yearwood, fell to her knees in tears at the dreamy, on-stage moment.

“I remember being a little girl and listening to country music and feeling like, ‘This is my destiny,'” Alaina expressed in an interview after the event. “Not just country music, we listened to the Opry. The Opry is the core of country music. Everyone that’s ever been anyone I could look up to played the Opry. To be in that family, I can’t believe it. This is the best day of my life other than when my nieces and nephews were born.”

Becoming a member of the Grand Ole Opry seems like the most fitting finale to Alaina’s already successful 2021. She wrote and recorded her newest album Sitting Pretty on Top of the World, starred in the Hallmark movie Roadhouse Romance, released her new book Getting Good at Being You, and revealed a new headlining tour to embark on this coming February.

“We kept saying we had to make a new list of goals, and I have not wanted to do it because I had not gotten this one,” Alaina said of accomplishing a lifelong aspiration. “It feels good. Now, I’ve got to make some new goals. This is the best Christmas present I could ever get.”
