Despite repeatedly getting the lyrics wrong, iconic television show host Oprah Winfrey had an undoubtedly great time singing along with Adele as the UK singer-songwriter performed as part of Sunday’s Adele: One Night Only event on CBS.
Winfrey, herself, shamelessly posted the clip of her slip-up on social media, seemingly unembarrassed by her lack of lyrical accuracy. She admirably boasted about how good of a time she had rather than focusing on stumbling over the words to Adele’s hit song “Hello,” which fans on the internet quickly pointed out through jokes, memes, and even some all-too-serious critiques.
This, funnily enough, wasn’t even the first time Winfrey famously tried and failed to sing along to an objectively popular tune. Back in 2005, the host attempted to sing along to Mariah Carey’s “We Belong Together,” and just couldn’t get it right. Regardless, Winfrey was able to laugh along, even poking fun at the moment with Carey herself years later in a viral video.
It’s no surprise that someone as powerful as Oprah is well-practiced at not letting a small (albeit, publicized) mistake get in the way of having a good time.
