Drake has officially submitted his newest album, Certified Lover Boy, for multiple 2022 Grammy categories, potentially leading to a chance at Album of the Year.
Ironically, the rapper adamantly encouraged his fellow artists to focus on creating new music and not the awards.
“I think we should stop allowing ourselves to be shocked every year by the disconnect between impactful music and these awards and just accept that what once was the highest form of recognition may no longer matter to the artist that exist now and the ones that come after,” he said in a social media post after The Weeknd was considered to be snubbed during last year’s Grammys.
He also dissed the award show when he accepted his own Best Rap Song award in 2019 for “God’s Plan,” telling the audience that the real winning comes from “people singing your songs word for word.”
With a change of heart, it seems, Drake and his fans now await to see if CLB will rack up any redemption between the artist and the award show.
