UB40 Still Rocking and Rolling

Robin Campbell’s UB40 has agreed to play Arena Birmingham the Friday night before Christmas 2018, giving us a reason to talk about one of our favorite groups. UB40 is celebrating its 40th birthday this year, so let’s share…

Did you know that UB 40 has sold over 40 million records and is still touring today?

We learned early on the band name UB40 was taken from the term “Unemployment Benefit” (UB) forms 40 that was used in the UK during the 70s.

“Red Red Wine,” the Neil Diamond song, enabled them to break the music charts here in the USA, and “Can’t Help Falling in Love” the Elvis song solidified their success. Their biggest hit “Here I Am” was all covers of songs that hit number one in the UK and America. UB40 is considered the most successful Reggae band of all time, with the possible exception of the late Bob Marley.
