There may not be another Southern Rock group like 38 Special. We couldn’t imagine getting on the road without throwing in a tape or CD to hear “Caught Up In You,” “Fantasy Girl,” “Hold On Loosely,” “Wild Eyed Southern Boys,” or “Second Chance.”
Rockers Don Barnes and Donnie Van Zant grew up in the same neighborhood in the late 60s, so by the early 70s they were hanging out in some garage playing loud music. You may remember that Donnie is the middle son in the Jacksonville, FL Van Zant family; Ronnie the lead singer of Lynyrd Skynyrd who perished in that tragic 1977 plane crash in Mississippi.
