In the East Region, No. 1 Baylor defeated No. 16 Norfolk State, 85-49. No. 8 North Carolina destroyed No. 9 Marquette, 95-63. No. 15 Saint Peter’s stunned No. 2 Kentucky in overtime, 85-79. No. 4 UCLA defeated No. 13 Akron, 57-53.
In the West Region, No. 9 Memphis beat No. 8 Boise State, 64-53. No. 1 Gonzaga handily defeated No. 16 Georgia State, 93-72. No. 12 New Mexico State shocked No. 5 UConn, 70-63. No. 4 Arkansas defeated No. 13 Vermont, 75-71.
In the South Region, No. 11 Michigan upset No. 6 Colorado State, 75-63. Finally, No. 3 Tennessee rolled No. 14 Longwood, 88-56.
